In order to serve the large number of majors in the department, we currently utilize major-status restrictions on the following courses:
SOCA 301: Sociological Theory (additionally requires junior standing)
SOCA 311: Sociological Methods (additionally requires junior standing)
All writing and capstone courses (additionally requires senior standing)
Criminology intermediate courses
Criminology advanced courses
NOTE: Criminology courses on the Approved Soc Minor List may be restricted at the time of pre-registration. Restrictions may be lifted after freshman pre-registration based upon availability in these courses.
The Department will consider permit requests from pre-majors only in extenuating circumstances. Please direct requests to Jennifer Steele (Jen.Steele@mail.wvu.edu).
