Welcome to the Division of Sociology & Anthropology
What factors shape and influence our lives? How? Sociology is the scientific study of the social causes of human behavior. Sociology is a way of seeing the world and sociologists place a high value on critical thinking and asking students to challenge existing ideas about the way the world works. Since humans are social beings, almost anything can be scientifically studied using sociology. For instance, we study culture, race/ethnicity, media, inequality, social policy, education, organizations and institutions, crime and social problems, family, aging, and religion.
