Priority Registration and Information Spring 2017

Second year Master students are to register for SocA 698 (3hrs) Thesis, 725 Introduction to Evaluation Research Methods and an elective course chosen from 793A Violence Against Women or 793B Police Culture and Socialization. For Thesis credit registration, students must contact their committee chair for a departmental override.

Thesis proposal defense deadline is November 20th; see 4.3.1 Selecting a thesis topic on page 5 of the handbook for guidelines: http://soca.wvu.edu/files/d/6af27ccf-3d95-499c-96f6-996814cf4088/fall-2016-graduate-handbook.pdf. First year Doctoral students are to register for SocA 601 Professional Research/Writing, 616 Sociological  Data Analysis Interpretation 2, 630 Classical Social Thought and an elective course chosen from 793A Violence Against Women or 793B Police Culture and Socialization.

Meritorious Tuition Waivers are used as a scholarship to support meritorious students in graduate programs to offset tuition costs. Waivers are used to recruit, retain and graduate high quality graduate students. Eligible students are encouraged to contact the graduate liaison to apply. A limited number of hours are awarded to the Department and requests are granted on a competitive basis.

Students receiving Assistantship Tuition Waivers must be registered for no less than 9 credit hours each semester.
