SOCA Tutoring Center

The SOCA Tutoring Center is an online resource available to all WVU undergraduate students who require assistance in the subjects of Anthropology, Criminology, and Sociology. Our aims are to foster academic success in SOCA 101: Introduction to Sociology and in SOCA 105: Introduction to Anthropology and to support SOCA majors as they move on to upper-level SOCA coursework. 

The SOCA Tutoring Center specializes in SOCA 101: Introduction to Sociology, SOCA 105: Introduction to Anthropology, SOCA 232: Criminology, and SOCA 234: The Criminal Justice System, SOCA 301: Sociological Theory, and SOCA 311: Sociological Methods, and STAT 211. Our tutors also have a wide-range of experience with SOCA subjects and coursework and students are encouraged to request a tutor for for any undergraduate SOCA course.

The SOCA Tutoring Center is open by appointment only. Virtual appointments are available Monday-Sunday / In-person appointments (300 Knapp Hall) are available Monday-Friday.

To schedule an advising appointment:

  1. Visit

  2. Log-in with your MIX credentials

  3. Select your calendar. 

  4. Choose "Get Assistance"

  5. Under, "What type of appointment would you like to schedule?" select, "Tutoring"

  6. Select "SOCA Tutoring Center"

  7. Then choose "Tutoring"

  8. You will then be prompted to select preferred SOCA tutor, location preference (in office OR virtual), and preferred times. To select a tutor with expertise in a specific course, see SOCA Tutor Profiles.
