Abby Young
Abby Young is an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University in the field of sociology with a substantive focus on gender, education, work, and quantitative methods. Abby received her doctoral degree in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma. Broadly, her research centers on unpacking the causes and consequences of the slowing and stalling of the gender revolution. Her research currently focuses on the application of diverse statistical modeling techniques to investigate attitudinal, educational, and occupational outcomes of late adolescents and adults to understand processes that lead men and women to choose gender-differentiated educational and career pathways. Her work has appeared or will appear in journals such as Socius, Sociological Focus, Sociological Quarterly, Sociological Forum, and Sociological Perspectives. Abby also has ten years of experience as a graduate academic advisor in the OU Graduate College where she directly advised graduate students on their academic progress and professional development.
