Dunaway to end time as Eberly dean June 30, search for replacement to begin soon
Gregory Dunaway will conclude his tenure as dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at the end of this academic year. The 2025–26 academic year will mark the final chapter of his leadership of the Eberly College, the largest academic unit at the University, serving more than 5,000 students across over 60 undergraduate and graduate programs, which span disciplines in the humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, and the social and behavioral sciences.

Eberly College students receive Gilman Scholarships for study abroad programs
Ten students from the Ebelry College of Arts and Sciences have earned Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships to travel abroad this summer without financial constraints. These undergraduate students received the competitive national award funded by the U.S. State Department to participate in transformative study abroad experiences.

Phi Beta Kappa inducts new members
Fifty-five graduates were inducted as lifelong members into the WVU Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, a national honor society that recognizes outstanding achievement in the liberal arts and sciences, and champions freedom of thought.

The following students completed degree requirements to graduate in December 2024 or will complete requirements in May 2025. They have been named by faculty in their academic programs as Eberly College Outstanding Seniors for the 2024-25 academic year.

Several academic programs within the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences have new homes beginning in Fall 2024.
Good Medicine
The best word for this is an experience — a potentially life-changing one for those students who earn the opportunity. This is the WVU Medical and Dental Brigades. The term brigade is fitting. It’s tactical, strategic, well-organized, and intense. A lightning rod. And for the students and volunteers who are accepted to participate, it’s often a wake-up call. “This is a different type of clinical experience, educational experience. It’s not one that happens in a classroom. I'm not even sure if it happens in a hospital space,” Brewster said. “They're learning a more holistic understanding of health and medicine.”
