My research interests center on community-based research methods within a criminological framework, with particular attention to the police subculture and its effects on marginalized populations. I am especially interested in how community perceptions of policing intersect with broader issues of safety, social inequality, and institutional legitimacy.
I currently work with Dr. Megan Gandy in the WVU School of Social Work, where I am part of a community-based participatory action research project examining public perceptions of the Morgantown Police Department in collaboration with the Civilian Police Review and Advisory Board. This work seeks to elevate community voices in discussions of public safety and explore pathways for building interdependence between police and the communities they serve.
