Graduate Sociology Association
The Graduate Sociology Association provides doctoral students with social activities and opportunities to be active at the University. It is a forum to bring issues to the attention of the department, provide a community for students who are new to the area, and provide leadership, research, internship and networking experiences.
Annual events like the GSA Spring banquet and faculty gatherings help members get to know their professors and fellow graduate students.
GSA members give back to the community by working closely with the Morgantown Area Youth Services Project. MAYSP aims to reduce the incidence of delinquency, substance abuse, crime and violence among youth and adults in Monongalia County, WV, through the provision of counseling intervention, education services, and community service. They receive referrals from the WVDHHR, Probation, the Courts, Schools, and from family members.
